Easy Photo Manager is a local photo and video library for your Mac — find duplicates and near-duplicates, edit non-destructively, and organise everything, entirely offline. Answers to common questions are below, and the app has a full built-in User Guide too (Help → Easy Photo Manager User Guide, or ⌘?).
Whatever you do in Easy Photo Manager — editing, filing, removing from an album, even Move to Trash — your original photo or video file is handled through the macOS Trash with a confirmation first, or left completely untouched. Editing never writes to the original file at all; it is always rendered live from your unedited original.
No, to both. There is no sign-up, no sign-in, and no server. Easy Photo Manager has no network access of any kind, so it works fully offline — and always will, since nothing in it is built to need a connection.
Referenced leaves your files exactly where they are — on your Mac, an external drive, wherever — and Easy Photo Manager simply remembers where to find them. Copy into the library makes a managed copy inside the app, so your photos stay available even if you later disconnect that drive. You choose per import, and can mix both in the same library.
Duplicate Photos finds exact copies — files that are byte-for-byte identical. Similar Photos finds near-duplicates: a recompressed or resized copy of the same shot, and burst sequences where several near-identical frames were taken a moment apart. Both suggest a keeper and let you compare before removing anything — nothing is ever preselected for you.
It flags photos that might be worth a second look — blurry, under- or over-exposed, low-resolution, or an accidental screenshot — purely from analysing the image itself, entirely on your Mac. Nothing is sent anywhere to do this.
No. Every edit — Light, Colour, Detail, Geometry, Effects, crop, rotate — is saved as a recipe, not baked into the file. What you see is always rendered live from your original. Before/After shows you both, and a dedicated Undo history lets you step back through every change.
It analyses your photo's exposure and contrast locally and proposes a starting adjustment — never applied invisibly. Like any other edit, you can undo it or reset the photo back to its original state at any time.
Remove from Library only removes the photo from Easy Photo Manager's catalogue — it never touches the file itself, and is meant for photos you imported by reference and no longer want tracked. Move to Trash sends the actual file to the macOS Trash, behind a confirmation that states exactly how many files and how much space, and can be undone from the Trash like anything else on your Mac. Easy Photo Manager never deletes a file permanently on its own.
JPEG, HEIC, PNG or TIFF, with control over quality, size, and whether metadata such as GPS location is kept or removed from the exported copy. Export writes only to the folder you choose.
No — a backup file is plain, unencrypted data. It holds your albums, ratings, keywords, captions and edit history, but never your actual photos or videos. Keep it somewhere you trust, the same as any other file on your Mac. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Not yet — Edit, Rotate and Auto Enhance are for photos only, and say so rather than doing nothing if you try them on a video. Albums, favourites, ratings, keywords, search, filing and the Trash all work on a video exactly as they do on a photo, and exporting a video makes an exact, byte-for-byte copy of the original file.
Easy Photo Manager will tell you the actual reason rather than a generic failure — most often that the drive is disconnected, or that it needs permission to that folder again. If a drive has been reorganised or is temporarily unavailable, affected photos can be relinked once it's reconnected.
Help → Easy Photo Manager User Guide (or ⌘?) inside the app — it covers every screen and keyboard shortcut, and works offline like everything else.
