SwipeSafe lets you hand your phone to someone else to look through a specific set of photos and videos — without handing over your whole photo library. Answers to common questions are below, and we're always happy to help by email.
SwipeSafe restricts what can be viewed inside the app. Your phone's operating system may still allow system gestures, screenshots, or app switching. For stronger device-level restriction, use Guided Access on iPhone or app pinning on Android.
The exact, per-platform detail is in the app's own Help screen (Settings → Help) — it's generated directly from the same code that runs the protection, so it can never overclaim.
No, to both. There is no sign-up, no sign-in, and no server. Your selected photos and videos never leave your device, and the app makes no network requests except to validate an optional one-time Pro purchase through RevenueCat.
From Home, tap "Choose photos" and select the photos and videos you want to share. You'll get a chance to review and reorder your selection, then choose session settings — how long it lasts, whether zooming or video playback is allowed, and whether your PIN is needed to end it. A handoff screen confirms you're ready before the session actually starts.
Yes — a PIN is always required, because it's how a session is guaranteed to be endable only by you, the owner. You'll be asked to create one during onboarding or the first time you hand off a session. You can also turn on biometric unlock (Face ID, Touch ID, or your device's fingerprint/face unlock) as a faster alternative to typing your PIN.
Touch and hold the bottom-left corner of the screen and the bottom-right corner of the screen at the same time, and keep both held down continuously for about 2 seconds. Both corners must overlap in time — holding one, releasing it, then holding the other does not work.
This gesture is intentionally invisible — there's no button or label — so a guest doesn't discover it by trial and error. It leads to your PIN entry screen (and biometric prompt, if enabled); entering the correct PIN ends the session.
Yes. With a screen reader active (VoiceOver on iOS, TalkBack on Android), navigate to the control labeled "Exit session" and perform a long-press on it. This is a discoverable, accessible alternative that performs the identical exit action via a single continuous press rather than two simultaneous corners.
Yes — the in-app "How it works" walkthrough, reachable from Home, includes a hands-on practice version of the exact same gesture, with the hold targets shown visibly (labeled "Hold") rather than hidden. It's the easiest way to build confidence with the gesture risk-free.
The session ends automatically, the same way it would if you'd used the exit gesture, and any temporary copies of the selected media are deleted (unless you turned that off for the session).
On Android, screenshots are blocked outright by the operating system during a session. On iPhone/iPad, a screenshot action isn't blocked, but the screen automatically shows blank/black for the duration of the capture — so the resulting screenshot is blank.
On iPhone/iPad, the same automatic blanking that covers screenshots also covers live screen recording and mirroring — the screen blanks for as long as the recording/mirroring is active. On Android, SwipeSafe does not make a formal claim either way about screen recording.
No — this is hidden automatically on both platforms while a session is active, so switching away doesn't leave the media visible in a preview.
It removes the free-tier limit on how many items you can include in a session. It's a single one-time purchase, not a subscription — no recurring billing, ever.
Purchases are validated through RevenueCat against Apple's or Google's own billing systems — the only third-party service SwipeSafe uses, and only for this purpose. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what that involves.
None beyond what's needed to run a session on your own device. There's no analytics, no advertising, no account, and your selected media is never uploaded anywhere. See the full Privacy Policy for details.
There's no account to close — everything lives on your device. Uninstalling SwipeSafe removes any temporary session data and your PIN/biometric configuration along with it.
Yes — each session has a "keep the temporary copies" toggle in its settings. With it off (the default), the sandboxed copies used during a session are deleted automatically when the session ends. With it on, they stay on your device until you clear them yourself.
No. SwipeSafe only ever touches its own private, temporary copies — your original photos and videos in your device's photo library are never modified, moved, or deleted.
