Easy Contact Backup — Support

Easy Contact Backup keeps your contacts safe with local, encrypted backups you control. Answers to common questions are below — and we're always happy to help by email.

How do I back up my contacts?

On the Home tab, tap the round Back Up Now button. You can also turn on Automatic Backup in Settings to have it happen on a schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, or when your contacts change significantly).

How do I restore a backup?

Open the Backups tab, pick the backup you want, and tap Restore. You can restore everything, or review and skip duplicates along the way.

Where are my backups stored?

Locally on your device only, in the app's private storage. Nothing is uploaded anywhere unless you explicitly export or share a backup file yourself.

Are my backups encrypted?

Yes, by default. Backups are encrypted on-device (AES-256-GCM) with a key stored in your device's secure hardware storage. You can turn this off in Settings → Backup → Encryption if you'd rather have plain, portable .vcf files.

I got a new phone and my encrypted backup won't restore — why?

Encrypted backups are tied to the device that created them, since the encryption key never leaves that device's secure storage. This means an encrypted backup can't be restored after a factory reset, reinstall, or on a different device. If you need a backup you can move between devices, turn off encryption before creating it.

Can I view or export just some of the contacts in a backup?

Yes. Open a backup and tap View Contacts, then tick the ones you want. From there you can Import just those contacts to this device, or Export them as their own .vcf file.

Can I export my contacts as a spreadsheet?

Yes. Go to Tools → Export Contacts to save every contact on your device as a single CSV file, which opens directly in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, and similar apps.

How do I delete a backup?

Swipe left on it in Backup History, or open its ⋮ menu and choose Delete.

How many backups does the app keep?

By default, all of them — nothing is removed automatically. You can change this in Settings → Keep Backups to automatically prune down to a fixed number or a maximum age; your most recent backup is never deleted automatically even then.

How do I stop using the app / delete my data?

There's no account to delete — everything lives on your device. Uninstalling the app removes all of its locally stored backups along with it.
